Comfortable Inn with good food and beer -
Food and beer were excellent, with the pan fried lamb to die for!Service was good and friendly. Room décor a little dated but clean and comes with a fab Full English breakfast. Only gripe, please could you put on some better music in the bar - Benny Hill and The Wurzles are rather bad 70s!!

A Proper Country Inn -
We booked a few days at the George and Dragon to celebrate my wife's retirement and as soon as we arrived there we felt at home. The staff couldn't do enough for us, the atmosphere was excellent, a real country inn feel to it, with an open fire, good choice of drinks and friendly clientele. We stayed half board and the food couldn't have been better, we enjoyed everything we had. It's well located for visiting various parts of the Yorkshire Dales and I would recommend it as a base for anyone wanting to visit Wensleydale.Thank you for a lovely stay.

Lovely stay -
We stayed as a family of 6 adults and 2 dogs. All were made to feel welcome. Lovely room with very spacious bathroom (dog friendly room). The only downside was that dogs weren't allowed in the restaurant area and the bar was too small to accommodate our party so we had to eat at a nearby hotel. If travelling as a couple with a dog or too, I would definitely recommend. We had a lovely stay.

Weekend in the snow -
We had a lovely weekend at the George and Dragon. We set off from West Yorkshire with the snow shovel in the boot of the car as we had seen weather forecasts of snow in North Yorkshire and we certainly needed it.In deed without the help of fellow travellers who pushed our car from time to time we might never have made it.However, once we got there it was just what we had ordered:a pub with rooms in the most beautiful countryside with a lovely bar with a roaring fire, a lovely menu and gorgeous snug and warm rooms. All terrific value too.We would certainly go back again.Thank you for a great weekend.

The George and Dragon is a solid pub with rooms, providing great food and clean, standard rooms at a reasonable price. We were travelling with our 7 month old, and they set up our room with a cot for him, and let us eat dinner in their snug, so that he was away from the noise of the main dining room and we didn't have to worry about him disturbing anyone else.

Comfortable stay with wonderful food -
We stayed two nights (6-7 Sept 2013) in room 5, along with our small dog. The en-suite room, although a little on the small side was spotless and well serviced during our stay and the bed/mattress super-comfortable with quality pillows & bed-linen. The ensuite shower-room was spacious, spotless and well presented. We ate both evenings in the restaurant where the food was exceptionally good (booking advisable). The table service was warm and attentive without being fussy and the traditional & atmospheric bar cosy and well stocked. There is a small residents' lounge should there be no seats in the bar after your meal (Free Wifi is available in the bar/lounge area but seemed out of range in our bedroom). Breakfast (8:30-9:30) was also very good. The only negative:between 5:30pm - 9pm noise and excessive vibrationin our bedroom through the floor from the kitchen extractor fan below the window. Hopefully this might be attended to in due course as it would discourage me from booking the same room, otherwise I would have no hesitation in recommending the George & Dragon Inn. A friend stayed in room 3 which we thought looked a superb room.

Super find in the Dales -
We stayed for 2 nights as a wedding anniversary treat. The hotel is well situated for walking if you don,t want to use your car. We had a room at the front of the hotel which was a little noisy due to number of heavy lorries that use road which runs right out side of hotel if we return would ask for room at back. We ate both nights at hotel as there are no other places within walking distance glad we did as food was fantastic on both nights if anything even better on the second night. My hubby had the lamb which he said was better than he had on a recent trip to NZ make sure you leave room for a pudding they are 2 die for. The hotel is well situated for exploring the dales we were made to feel very welcome good atmosphere in the bar as its small everyone chats to each other a super couple of days away.

Food good as ever -
We stayed at the George and Dragon for the second time recently, as the first time, some 6 years ago we enjoyed our stay. The food is a particular highlight, well cooked and delicious. The fish & chips were better than I've had in so called award winning establishments, and the cooked breakfasts are wonderful, especially the sausages and bacon. The service is friendly and efficient, and I'm sure we'll be back in the future. The rooms are comfortable, although our bathroom floor could have done with a little attention as there were some cracked tiles. All in all though another great stay in a place wonderfully located for a walking couple like us.

Excellent Dales Gourmet Pub -
The George and Dragon is one of those rare establishments that combines an excellent traditional Dales pub with gourmet cooking and first class accommodation. It's a well established, family run business that we've stayed at on several occasions.Food is excellent including a hearty English breakfast.Cask conditioned ales (Black Sheep, Theakstons Best amongst others) are looked after particularly well and there's a great atmosphere in the small traditional bar. Rooms are comfortable, well equipped and tastefully decorated. The only down side is that the owner is a Leeds United fan. But nothing's perfect.Highly recommended.

A pleasure to be cut off by the floods -
Shame about the weather and the local floods cutting off all the roads, but it didn't matter being stuck here as the G and D has everything you need. The food here is the best pub food I have had and better than a lot of restaurants. The quality of the produce as well the execution of the dishes be it breakfast, lunch and dinner was excellent. The ales are well kept and tasty. The rooms are simple but clean and warm. My only negative comment would be that we had room 5 which was by the kitchen extractor, which hummed and juddered through the walls but this was off by nine at night and didn't really bother us too much in the end. The pub is very near Aysgarth falls, 10 mins walk, so good location too.

George and Dragon -
We had a lovely relaxing break, the rooms were spotless and very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and it was one of the best meals we have ever had. Excellent breakfast the next morning, all cooked to order. Will be returning here again.

Highly recommended -
A very releaxed and friendly environment. Good quality wine and beers and top rating for the restaurant. For my vegetarian wife, it was heaven as choice is often bland!
